ARC Raiders Scrappy Upgrade Guide

Guides

Scrappy’s upgrades depend on a steady supply of mushrooms-but finding them isn’t as random as it seems. Here’s the exact spot where they appear reliably, saving you hours of wandering across the Arc.

Eager to upgrade him to Master Hoarder and get him to gather even more supplies, I set out to find 12 Mushrooms, which turned out to be much harder than expected. Not just because of the inevitable dangers of being topside, but also because of absolutely dreadful spawn rates compared to other foods, fruits, and plants. That is, until I found a consistent spot to farm Mushrooms in Arc Raiders.

Where to find Mushrooms in Arc Raiders

Mushrooms spawn reliably around the abandoned farmstead southeast of the main base, especially near the silos and overgrown fields after clearing out nearby threats. Check the damp cave systems along the northern riverbank, where clusters pop up on walls and ledges during night cycles. Scout the forested ridges west of the scrapyard outpost too; they drop consistently from spore pods hanging off low branches. Hit these spots in sequence post-rainfall events for maximum yield to fuel Scrappy upgrades.

Per the in-game item blurb, Mushrooms spawn in areas marked as containing Nature loot. Not all that helpful if you ask me after spending a few runs darting from tree to tree in the Hydroponic Dome Complex on Dam Battlegrounds and Olive Grove on The Blue Gate.

It turns out that, like their real-world counterparts, Arc Raiders Mushrooms are keen on dank, dark, high-humidity environments, and Dam Battleground’s is littered with locations that fit the bill, including interior areas.

By chance, I was making my way from Water Treatment Control to Primary Facility via the long windowed corridor lined by pipes that curves southeast towards Research & Administration. It’s one that’s usually patrolled by a couple of Fireballs. I noticed what looked like a fungal growth by the windows that turned out to be a Mushroom, and then another growing below the pipes.

I loaded in again with a Free Loadout a couple more times to confirm, and the corridor near systematically spawns anywhere from one to three Mushrooms per visit, that is, if other Raiders haven’t looted them before you get there. I hoovered up the 12 Mushrooms in six runs, bar a few early punts back to Speranza due to bumping into some hostile raiders.

If you’re on the hunt for Mushrooms in Arc Raiders, this is the spot. It’s safer than the Hydroponic Dome Complex, and its central location means it’s never too far from a spawn point, unless you’re unlucky and load in up by the Power Generation Complex. The Central Swamp Lift is also a short run away, allowing you to get out quickly with Scrappy’s fungal treats.

How to farm apricots and pillows for Scrappy level 4

To get Scrappy to level 4 you need 12 apricots and 3 Very Comfortable Pillows (plus the 12 mushrooms you already know how to farm).

How many you need

  • 12 Apricots.

  • 3 Very Comfortable Pillows.

Best apricot farming

The easiest method is to chain apricots with your mushroom farm at Spaceport. From the mushroom tree near Little Hangar in Spaceport, walk up the path and you will hit two apricot trees very quickly. Each has fruit on the ground, and you can shake the tree to drop more, so a couple of runs here will cover all 12 apricots while you farm mushrooms. Alternative apricot spots include Buried City and Blue Gate’s Olive Grove, but they are less efficient if you are already doing the Spaceport route.

Best pillow farming

Very Comfortable Pillows only come from lootable containers and residential interiors, so you farm them by sprint-looting houses rather than picking from the ground.

Most recommended routes:

  • Blue Gate – The Village: Run house to house, opening wardrobes, cabinets, drawers, and boxes; this area can drop Dog Collars, Cat Beds, and Very Comfortable Pillows together.

  • Buried City – Grandioso Apartments and other residential blocks: Tons of rooms and containers; hit dense sections quickly instead of clearing every room to save time.

  • Blue Gate – Village/”The Village” near Blue Gate spawn: Some players reliably get all 3 pillows here with a few fast loops focusing on high-density interiors.

Efficient loop example

  1. Run Spaceport mushroom tree near Little Hangar, grab 4 mushrooms.

  2. Walk up to the nearby apricot trees, shake and loot until you’re capped on apricots.

  3. Queue into Blue Gate, hit The Village and speed-loot houses and apartments until you get 3 pillows.

By repeating this pattern across a couple of sessions you should comfortably gather enough apricots and pillows for Scrappy level 4 while also finishing your mushroom count.

Best farming routes for Scrappy level 5 items

For Scrappy level 5 you are essentially re-farming the same three items as level 4, just more of them, so the “best” routes are the ones that let you chain mushrooms, apricots, and pillows in as few runs as possible.

What level 5 needs

  • 12 Mushrooms.

  • 12 Apricots.

  • 3 Very Comfortable Pillows.

Route 1: Spaceport + Blue Gate (safe and simple)

Use this if you already like the Spaceport mushroom/apricot line and Blue Gate village for trinkets.

  1. Spaceport – Mushrooms

    • Start at Spaceport and run to the mushroom tree just south of Little Hangar (same spot you used for earlier levels, guaranteed multi-spawn).

    • Grab all mushrooms, then extract or rotate; 3-4 short runs here are usually enough to finish all 12.

  2. Spaceport – Extra apricots on the way

    • From the mushroom tree, move along the nearby path/green trench with fruit trees; kick them and loot the ground to stack apricots while doing mushroom laps.

  3. Blue Gate – Village/Olive Grove for apricots and pillows

    • Drop into Blue Gate – Olive Grove first: kick lemon/apricot trees in the grove center, then sweep toward the Village area for more fruit trees.

    • In the Village, sprint-loot interiors (wardrobes, cabinets, drawers, boxes) to hunt Very Comfortable Pillows; this zone can also drop Dog Collars and Cat Beds, so you may fill earlier-tier needs too.

Loop idea:

  • Run 2-3 Spaceport laps for mushrooms + some apricots.

  • Swap to Blue Gate for 1-2 fruit/pillow laps.

  • Repeat until 12/12/3 is done.

Route 2: Dam Battlegrounds focus (if you know this map well)

This is strong if you’re comfortable with Dam and want to keep everything on one map as much as possible.

  1. Dam Battlegrounds – Mushrooms

    • Use the mushroom forest near the Hydroponic Dome and forested areas the community maps call out; one clean loop can give you a large chunk of your mushrooms.

  2. Dam Battlegrounds – Apricots

    • Hit apricot trees around Red Lakes and similar marked fruit zones; kick trees and grab fruit on the ground to build toward 12 apricots.

  3. Dam Battlegrounds – Pillows

    • Finish the run through Testing Annex and nearby residential blocks where people farm Cat Beds and Pillows at earlier levels; loot all indoor containers quickly and reset.

This route is efficient if your squad already likes fighting here, since you can combine PvE/PvP with material farming.

Route 3: “All-in-one” trinket-heavy route

If you’re short mainly on pillows (or still missing other trinkets), lean on the classic mixed-loot districts.

  • Mushrooms: Do a couple of fast Spaceport or Dam mushroom loops first; they are far more consistent than hoping for basket drops.

  • Apricots:

    • Blue Gate – Olive Grove and Village: tons of lemon/apricot trees close together; kick everything, then extract.

    • Optionally top up at Spaceport trench/paths.

  • Pillows:

    • Blue Gate – Village and Buried City – Grandioso/Red Tower area are both dense with searchable interiors and have good pillow rates. Run straight lines through big buildings, hit only obvious containers, and reset rather than fully clearing every floor.

Quick priorities and tips

  • Always over-farm apricots while you’re in fruit zones; they’re needed at multiple levels and easy to stack passively.

  • Treat pillows like “boss drops”: focus whole runs on residential interiors (Village, Testing Annex, Red Tower/Grandioso) until you see them, then stop over-farming once you hit three.

  • If a Lush Blooms event is active, consider doing one event run for fruit and mushrooms via nature baskets, then finish mushrooms/pillows with your usual map routes.

If you tell me which maps you enjoy most (Spaceport, Dam, Blue Gate, Buried City), I can turn this into a very specific waypoint-to-waypoint loop tailored to you.
