Rising prestige in Anno 117 Pax Romana transforms your humble settlement into a Roman powerhouse-master these strategies to command respect across the empire.
Prestige also has an impact on Diplomacy and on your standing with other Governors, potentially opening the door to deeper diplomatic ties and treaties. Much like happiness, health, knowledge, and belief, Prestige is key to a thriving colony, but the game doesn’t necessarily lay out how it all works in the clearest of terms. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all the ways you can increase Prestige in Anno 117 Pax Romana.
How to improve Prestige in Anno 117 Pax Romana
Build a Governor Villa to apply a +1 Prestige area effect across nearby structures, and add buildings like Thermae or Forums that provide similar boosts. Supply residences with luxury goods such as Togas, Necklaces, Chariots, and Wigs to gain Prestige from fulfilled Needs. Place Ornaments like statues and fountains for incremental gains, slot Specialists such as Traditionalist Torquatus in your Villa for targeted buffs, and advance City Status tiers from Vast Imperial City upward for automatic Prestige per residence.
There are several ways to increase Prestige in Anno 117 Pax Romana:
Build a Governor Villa
Building a Governor Villa grants any building within its range 1 Prestige. The Villa has a large radius, meaning that if you can squeeze dozens of buildings in, you earn an immediate and more-or-less permanent boost to your Prestige level.
Construct Prestige-boosting buildings
Aside from the Governor Villa, other buildings include area effects that boost Prestige and, as such, can be built to increase your city’s Prestige. Here’s a quick list for the two major maps:
- Latium: Theatre, Loom Weavery, Glassblower, Forum, Amphitheatre, Library, Jeweller, Chair Maker, Marble Mason, Tessera Works, Shrine of Mars, Shrine of Minerva.
- Albion: Recreation Ground, Wire-Twister, Shieldbeater, Vintner, Theatre, Beaver Hatter, Chariot Workshop, Barrow, Sacred Grove, Epicure of Air, Wig Maker, Granite Cutter, Shrine of Mars, and Shrine of Minerva.
Supply residences with Prestige-boosting Needs
The following Needs provide a boost to your Prestige for all supplied residences: Togas, Fine Glass, Necklaces, Loungers, Torcs, Clan Shields, Chariots, Bird Tongues in Aspic, and Wigs.
Construct Ornaments
Next to the Build button, positioned in the bottom-left corner of the lower portion of the HUD, is the Ornaments button. When clicked, you’ll get access to a range of cosmetics to spruce up your cit,y from ground patterns and foliage to statues and fountains. While certainly pretty, they also contribute to your Prestige in small increments – roughly 1-2 Prestige per Ornament. If you have the cash to spare and some spare empty ground, construct a large patch of Ornaments to raise your Prestige quickly.
Raise your City Status
City Status is a measure of the size of your colony. Beyond Minor City, each tier you graduate to unlocks a fresh set of bonuses for every residence, including Prestige, as follows:
- V Vast Imperial City: 1 Prestige
- VI Minor Megalopolis: 2 Prestige
- VII Growing Megalopolis: 3 Prestige
- VIII Minor Monstropolis: 4 Prestige
- IX Growing Monstropolis: 5 Prestige
- X Major Monstropolis: 6 Prestige
- XI Vast Monstropolis: 7 Prestige
Slot Prestige-boosting Specialists in your Villa
Specialists are key to guiding your colony to long-term success, but some of these experts also specialise in boosting your Prestige. If you come across any, make sure to slot them into your Villa or Officium to benefit from their buffs. For example, there’s Traditionalist Torquatus, who grants 2 Prestige to all residences supplied with Torcs within the Governor Villa’s range. Best buildings to place under a Governor Villa for max Prestige
Governor Villas in Anno 117: Pax Romana provide a wide-area Prestige bonus, so prioritize high-density, high-impact buildings within their radius for maximum gain. Focus on residences and ornaments that multiply the effect across many homes.
Optimal Residences
Place upgraded housing blocks (e.g., 2×4 or 2×6 Insulas or Domus) directly under the Villa-these supply multiple luxury Needs like Togas and Necklaces, earning +1 Prestige per fulfilled home amplified by the Villa. Villas boost Prestige from nearby residences more effectively than scattered farms or industry.
Top Prestige Buildings
Pack in Theatres (+Prestige area effect), Forums, and Libraries for overlapping bonuses covering dozens of homes. Region-specific producers like Loom Weaveries (Latium) or Vintners (Albion) add steady gains when Needs are met.
Ornaments and Layout
Fill gaps with statues, fountains, and ground patterns (1-2 Prestige each; mass them for 50+ total). Centralize the Villa in a modular “block” layout to encompass 100+ structures, protecting it defensively while maximizing coverage.
Which residential buildings give the most prestige nearby
Higher-tier residential buildings in Anno 117: Pax Romana, such as fully upgraded Domus and Villas, provide the most Prestige when placed nearby due to their capacity for multiple luxury Needs fulfillment. These generate +1 Prestige per supplied home, scaling with density under a Governor Villa’s bonus radius.
Top Residences
Domus blocks (e.g., 2×4 or larger configurations) outperform basic Insulas by supporting advanced Needs like Togas, Necklaces, and Chariots, yielding higher base Prestige amplified by proximity effects. Villas offer even greater returns once unlocked, as their inherent Prestige contribution stacks with area bonuses from nearby Governor Villas or ornaments.
Layout Tips
Cluster 20+ Domus or Villas centrally under the Governor Villa for compounded gains-each fulfilled Need adds Prestige directly, with Villas boosting the effect across 100+ homes in optimal setups. Avoid low-tier Insulas, as their limited Needs cap Prestige at lower levels despite higher density.
