Anno Pax Romana Trade Guide. Importing Goods in the Game. Trade Routes And Commerce.

Guides

In Anno 117 Pax Romana, provinces tempt with rare goods-but importing them demands cunning trade routes across hostile seas.

How to import from and export to other provinces in Anno 117 Pax Romana

To import from other provinces in Anno 117 Pax Romana, sign a trade treaty with the governor, assign a ship to a route, and set buy orders for goods like cheese from Albion or wine from Latium at your ports. Exports work the same way: configure sell orders to ship out surplus items such as oil or sheep, with values dictating exchange rates instead of one-to-one swaps. Protect routes with navy escorts against pirates, and use the world map for automated loops connecting your Latium and Albion holdings seamlessly.

To import from and export to other provinces, start by tapping on the Trade Routes button in the left-hand column HUD menu. Next, tap New Trade Routes at the bottom of the window on the left. From there, add a ship to travel the trade route from your current fleet.

Next, select two or more islands you want the ship to visit on the trade route. To import and export between regions, you’ll need to choose an island in Latium and another in Albion by switching between provinces via the buttons at the top of the map on the right. For example, we’ve selected Cudslip in Albion and Juliana in Latium.

Back on the window on the left, tap the ‘Load Good’ button on the island where you want your ship to pick up goods (i.e., where you wish to export them from). Here, we’ve gone for Roast Beef. Next, select ‘Unload Good’ on the island where you want the Roast Beef to go, i.e., where you want it imported. To wrap everything up, press the Establish Route button on the left-side window.

Before long, your ship will start sailing the trade route, picking up goods and then unloading them where you’ve indicated you want them imported. You can also select more than one good type if needed, allowing you to import and export all manner of useful Needs and raw materials.

Set up a trade route between Latium and Albion step by step

To set up a trade route between Latium and Albion in Anno 117: Pax Romana, first ensure you’ve unlocked Albion (typically after Act II) and have ships ready. Open the Trade Routes menu via the left-hand HUD (or press T), then select “New Trade Routes” to begin.

Prerequisites

Complete relevant campaign acts to access Albion. Build civilian ships (for cargo capacity) or military ones (for protection) at a shipyard, and assign a Captain specialist for bonuses like faster province transfers.
Switch provinces using the earth icon in the bottom-left circular menu or world view.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. In Trade Routes, click “New Trade Routes” at the bottom.

  2. Select the starting island: Switch to Albion (top buttons or earth icon), pick an exporting island (e.g., Cudslip for Cheese/Brooches).

  3. Add destination: Switch to Latium, choose importing island (e.g., Juliana).

  4. Assign ship: Pick from your fleet (civilian for goods, military for safety).

  5. Set cargo: At Albion stop, “Load Goods” (e.g., select Cheese); at Latium, “Unload Goods” (set min stock like 5t to avoid depletion).

  6. Confirm: Press “Establish Route”; add escorts if pirates threaten.

Optimization Tips

Set multiple stops/goods per route for efficiency (e.g., load 8 slots).
Monitor via world view; resume paused routes by clicking ship icons.
Your own cities trade free (no Denarii), unlike NPCs.

Which ship type is best for long Latium Albion routes

Quinqueremes stand out as the best ship type for long trade routes between Latium and Albion due to their superior cargo capacity and balanced speed. Civilian variants prioritize hauling goods efficiently over combat, making them ideal for sustained inter-province transfers that take 5-10 real minutes each way.

Why Quinqueremes Excel

These ships offer up to 8 cargo slots when optimized, far surpassing smaller biremes or triremes for bulk imports like Cheese or Brooches.
Equip with rudders, sails, and Captain specialists to counter wind penalties and long travel times between provinces.

Alternatives and Enhancements

Use military quinqueremes if pirates are a threat, adding archers or scorpions for protection without sacrificing much cargo.
Hybrid setups (cargo + defense) work for risky routes, but pure traders minimize costs on safe paths.
