The film won an award at Sundance, presented a first look that puts the focus on its cinematography and will debut in August in Colombia.

In the most recent edition of the Sundance Festival, the director Alejandro Landes won a special jury prize in the international category for his most recent work: Monkeys, a film that will premiere on August 15 in Colombia and will hit US theaters on September 13.

The film revolves around a rebel group of teenage commandos, who live on a remote unidentified mountain in Latin America, who have a mission: to watch over a dairy cow and a prisoner known as “The Doctor” (Julianne Nicholson).

The young people, who call themselves under names like Rambo, Patagrande, Pitufo, Lobo and Boom boom, perform their military training under the wing of “The Organization”. But once they suffer an ambush, the young must go into the jungle and obviously their links begin to fracture.

All that is tested by the official trailer, which looks very, very good.
